Federal Small Business
Our commitment to small businesses goes beyond our contractual obligations.
Providing small business opportunities on all of our projects enables Garney to expand our markets and continue our sustainable growth. Garney regularly exceeds its contractual obligations for small business participation.
Garney has a current Small Business Administration approved 8(a) Mentor Protégé Agreement with Bethel Builders, a Native Alaskan Corporation. This Mentor Protégé Agreement allows Garney and Bethel Builders to pursue small business set-aside work as a joint venture.
Under this agreement, Garney will mentor Bethel Builders and help them grow their business and skillsets in the construction of underground utilities and water treatment facilities. Garney believes this is an excellent opportunity to give back to the small business community.
TYBE is a women owned self-performing small business specializing in both water treatment and waste water treatment as well as pipeline construction. Garney will be partnering with TYBE on Federal projects in the South East pursuing water related projects throughout this region with our local offices. By utilizing the SBA approved Mentor Protégé agreement TYBE and Garney can bid as a Joint venture on all small business and women owned set asides in the federal market place greatly expanding our ability to participate in the Federal space. Although TYBE is an experienced contractor Garney will be mentoring TYBE by assisting in the further development of their skill sets including estimating, project management and business development as well as other aspects of their business. Garney sees this as a way to give back to the community as we were once a small business ourselves helping to develop small business is a good thing for our industry.
