In the Spring of 2007, one of the twin 108″ diameter penstocks at the Xcel Energy Shoshone Power Plant ruptured and flooded the power house. Garney was hired to install a 100″ steel liner inside of each existing 108″ penstock. This was very challenging because these penstocks extend down a mountain on a 45 degree slope with limited access. The penstocks include multiple elbows that made the sliplining of the existing pipe even more challenging. This work was completed using special equipment including winches to pull the pipe in place and various length joints of the 100″ pipe.
