This project was the final segment of the Prairie Waters Program projects that ties the City of Aurora’s water conveyance system to their new water treatment facility. The work included installing 75,102 LF of 60″ and 17,158 LF of 30″ mortar-lined steel pipe. More than 6,000 LF of the pipeline was located in the Smith Road right-of-way, and the balance was located in agricultural fields. The project also included the installation of 640 LF of 72″ hand-mined tunnels, seven 60″ butterfly valves and structures, 27 buried access manways, and numerous air release and blow off assemblies. Challenges on this project included multiple creek, railroad, and highway crossings, dewatering, an extensive cathodic protection system, and excavations more than 30’ deep. In addition to the pipeline, more than 56,000 LF of fiber optic line was installed.
“I have personally worked with Garney on many of these projects and their workmanship has been excellent. Their cooperation and willingness to work out problems in a collaborative manner sets them apart from most contractors.”
