Northeast Brunswick Regional WWTP Expansion

 

This $8.5 million project for Brunswick County Public Utilities in Leland, North Carolina, consisted of installing the following elements:

 

– 7 MGD mechanical bar screen w/odor control unit

– Two 1,400 GPM EQ pumps

– 825,000 gallon EQ basin

– 2,197 GPM jet mixing pump

– 520 SCFM jet aeration blower

– 2.06 MGD oxidation ditch

– 1,500 CF clarifier

– Two 618 GPM RAS pumps

– 137 GPM WAS pump

– 13,000 gallon/hour sludge thickener

– Two 2.063 MGD disk filters

– Two UV banks in new channel rated 3.09 MGD

– Three 2,150 GPM effluent pumps

– 30” outfall

– 4,200 lbs./day ATAD tank

– Two 600 GPM transfer pumps

– 340,000 gallon post ATAD tank

– 3,300 GPM jet mixing pump

– 400 SCFM jet aeration blower

– 725 GPM transfer pump

– ATAD odor control system

 

Value Engineering at the beginning of the project resulted in saving the Owner $410,000 without eliminating any critical processes.

 

The Maintenance of Plant Operation (MOPO) was the largest challenge on the project. Extensive construction coordination allowed all integration of new equipment on the existing plant to be completed without interruption to the normal flow or operation of the plant.
