This project consisted of two major milestones: Phase I-Crane Way Extension and Phase II – Wheel Plant Building Addition. Phase I consists of extending the existing system 54′ and included three new structural steel support columns on the north and south side, structural steel beam with a 132 lb. rail, and new concrete footing with auger cast pile foundations. This includes the relocation of existing crane cab access stairs, painting of owner provided structural steel, relocation of crane stops, and the extension of crane electrical power connections. Phase II includes the construction of a pre-engineered 41′-2″ x 90′-6″ metal building. The project also included an addition to be an extension of the existing wheel plant precast double tee building, a new building extension to house equipment for demounting wheel bearings, wide-brushing wheel axels, and receiving trackage and axel turntable for preparing axles prior to bearing demount. The building has rapid roll-up doors for drive through, bearing removal, and axel passageway. The building is heated and air conditioned and insulated with interior liner panels, along with infrared gas heating.
