Forsyth County Water Treatment Plant Expansion

Forsyth County, Georgia, located approximately 30 miles north of Atlanta, was one of the fastest growing areas in the United States during the 2000s, and its population is expected to double to almost 200,000 by 2010. This population growth has necessitated the need for expanding the County's existing 12 MGD water treatment plant to 24 MGD. The plant expansion is the largest project ever undertaken by the County. The process is centered around Zenon's submerged membrane equipment, and includes a new flocculation/sedimentation basin, membrane building, and residuals basin, as well as overlot grading, yard piping, chemical feed systems, electrical, and instrumentation and control. This project is the first large water treatment facility built by Garney Construction in the Southeast. Prior to this project, Garney had completed five pipeline projects for Forsyth County, including our firm's maiden voyage into the Atlanta pipe market several years ago.
