Capitol Hill Recycles Water Tank

Denver, Colorado - The goal of this $11 million project was to store and convey reuse water from Denver Metro's large wastewater plant to irrigate parks and open space in the Denver metropolitan area. This was the latest project undertaken by the Denver Water Board as they moved forward with their commitment to reuse water. This project included three major portions of work. The first portion entailed the demolition of the 240,000 SF "Double T" roof, wall sections, and a portion of the base slab on an existing 29 MG tank, which totaled approximately 9,500 CY of concrete. The second portion included the erection and backfill of a new 6 MG post-tensioned concrete tank at the demolished portions of the existing tank. And the third portion dealt with the placement of welded steel yard piping varying from 24" to 60" in diameter, one 120" stand pipe, butterfly and cone valves, and manholes needed to put the new 6 MG tank into operation as a recycled water storage reservoir. The project was completed in April 2008.
