SDS Finished Water Pipeline Segment S2

Colorado Springs, CO – July 11 – Colorado Springs Utilities awarded Garney a $26 million contract to build Segment S2 of their Southern Delivery System Finished Water Pipeline Project in order to supply regional water for surrounding communities, including Colorado Springs, Fountain, Security, and Pueblo West. The Southern Delivery System is a regional project that will ultimately consist of 62 miles of 66” water pipeline, three pump stations, and a water treatment plant. Garney completed the very first segment of this system, FW1A, and also has the FW1B segment currently under contract. The Segment S2 project entails 33,865 LF of 66” steel pipe. Construction will be located in completely urban areas, requiring public relations efforts, permitting, road crossing coordination, and hard rock trenching. Crews will mobilize in August 2011 with substantial completion scheduled for late April 2012.
